This iconic Art Deco complex spans 22 acres in Midtown Manhattan and house 14 buildings in its campus. This project balances historic preservation tactics that align with the Landmarks Preservation Committee’s requirements and modern safety standards that ensure the longevity of these historic buildings. My involvement in the facade and roof restoration of eight of these structures extended from design development through filing and construction administration. In collaboration with clients, contractors and architects, we worked closely on developing restoration strategies for the intricate masonry and roofing systems. By coordinating construction activities, overseeing filings, and addressing on-site challenges, our team was able to preserve its historical character while meeting contemporary building codes. These projects honor the Rockefeller Center’s legacy while revitalizing one of New York City’s most treasured commercial hubs for future generations.
