URBAN VILLAS

These residences respond to the site in which they are located. In between two streets, one on a higher elevation than the other, the topography and layout of the site naturally create a front and back. When approaching the site, urban dwellers can engage with their residential landscape and streetscape. A thick, concrete, load-bearing wall acts as the anchoring element for the rest of the architecture that can then look front. This positioning allows for advantageous views and sightlines from inside of the homes, outwards. After exploring the landscaping on the site, I decided to unite these houses and create a housing complex connected by exterior spaces. The inspiration for this concept was to create homes that perform as shelters and social spaces.
