PAINTBOX #2

location | South End, Boston

date | Fall 2022

sponsor | City of Boston, Arts and Culture Dpmnt.

Created in the South End of Boston on Massachusetts Avenue, Paintbox 2 is a tribute to the legacy of the Harriet Tubman House, a vital community space recently demolished to make way for new development. Positioned near the site, this piece honors the spirit of the neighborhood and its cultural history, inspired by the preserved mural of an important Black artist celebrating Boston’s evolving music and arts movement. This project taught me invaluable lessons in paint application and durability in cold temperatures, while also becoming a point of reflection and dialogue — even gaining recognition in Northeastern University classes for its homage to the Tubman House’s enduring impact.
