HOMEGROWN COURTS

location | Los Angeles, CA

date | January 2021

recognition | Honorable Mention, AN Best of Design Awards

notes | Work done at Utile, inc.

I was part of the team that researched and designed a residential model for the City of Los Angeles. This design competition envisioned the way the cityscape and zoning of the city could become less transit-oriented and grow in density. Starting with an analysis of the urban networks and forces that shape this grand metropolis, I investigate community forums, real-time data, historical information, flora, fauna, and culture of various neighborhoods. I became interested in the colors and flavors of the Los Angelenos and took initiative in the creation of a look-book for our visuals. This process included choosing the color palette, studying and drawing native plants, and choosing the overall aesthetic of our boards. This project introduced me to the design competition environment in a professional setting and won an honorable mention.
